Smartwyre® unveils Grower Compass: Unlocking the power of grower data for ag retailers

Mar 18, 2024

DENVER — Smartwyre® announced today the launch of Grower Compass — an innovative way for retailers to gain deeper insights into their grower customers, use previous purchase data to plan for the future, and quickly understand profitability and margins down to the branch or grower level.

For most retailers, this detailed and precise visibility over grower customers and prospects has traditionally been poor. Aggregating all the necessary data is difficult, and even harder is organizing and updating it in a way that truly drives actionable insights.

With Grower Compass, retailers can identify several business-expanding opportunities:

  • How and where to upsell specific products and services to a specific grower

  • Which segments of the market to move into (for example, selling seed to a customer who’s previously only bought crop protection products)

  • How to optimize margin using product substitutions

  • Where the most impactful prospects are in a particular geographic area, and how to target them based on their individual needs

All of this is delivered via a real time web interface that visually guides user to these insights in a few clicks giving access to whoever in the organization needs them when they need them – no waiting for a monthly report.

Smartwyre’s Grower Compass drives these insights by aggregating all grower-level transactions, providing sales, product and profitability insights filtered by location, showing key performance metrics for individual growers, and creating visibility over which locations require the most attention from a retailer’s sales staff.

“Grower Compass addresses a key market need – giving our retail customers a single place to see key commercial insights about each grower that they deal with including sales trends and margin,” said Adrian Kelly, Smartwyre’s Chief Product Officer. “It also means our retail customers can identify opportunities to better serve these growers. With Smartwyre’s mission of a digitally connected ag supply chain, this market need has been key for us to address.”

When retailers can see where the most profitability is coming from, plus forecast where the most profitability could be coming from, they can make better strategic decisions about where to focus their time and resources. In the end, this also leads to happier customers who get the products and services they need to maximize on-farm performance.

Those who want to learn more about Grower Compass and other ways Smartwyre empowers retailers for the future of agribusiness can join Smartwyre at the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit March 19-20. CEO John Brubaker will be in conversation with several ag input supply chain leaders as part of “The Quiet Digital Revolution in Agriculture” panel.
